Joy of Spring - Original artwork Round Canvas 2026

£400.00

The Joy of Spring is a celebration of colour, renewal and the uplifting energy of the season.

Tulips are my favourite flowers, and I paint them every year. Over time, they have become a personal symbol of spring, optimism and new beginnings in my work. Painting them has almost become a yearly ritual — a way of welcoming the season through colour, movement and light.

In this piece, a lively bouquet of tulips unfolds across the circular canvas through expressive, layered brushwork and vibrant mark-making. Rich pinks, purples and greens are balanced by the turquoise vase, while the round format gives the composition a sense of continuous movement, allowing the flowers to radiate outward rather than feeling contained within a traditional rectangular frame.

Fluorescent pigments bring an additional dimension to the painting. In daylight, the work feels bright, joyful and energetic. Under UV light, selected colours intensify and glow, revealing a more dramatic and unexpected version of the same composition. This transformation is an important part of the work, exploring how light can alter our perception of colour and atmosphere.

Bright, playful and full of life, The Joy of Spring is intended to bring a feeling of warmth, optimism and renewed energy into a space.
